Summary: | Optical network is playing a vital role to fulfill the demand of bandwidth hungry applications. Optical circuit switching (OCS), Optical packet switching (OPS), and optical burst switching (OBS) techniques have been proposed to provide high capacity link in optical domain. Dynamic optical circuit switching (DOCS) is the new paradigm which involves dynamism in OCS. It is the most practical and cost effective solution to provide dynamic light paths. Several algorithms have been proposed which make use of connection parameters to solve the routing and wavelength (RAW) assignment problem in DOCS. In this paper, we have proposed Multiple Path Traffic Grooming (MTG) algorithm which make use of multiple existing light paths, to fulfill the connection request. Our analysis shows that MTG significantly reduces bandwidth blocking probability and the network utilization is also enhanced considerably. |
