Summary: | In this paper we study the behavior of traffic in Metropolitan Optical Packet Switching Networks, using computer modeling and simulations. We analyze network performance and the impact of node failure compared with the impact of link failure and normal operation. Mesh topologies are chosen with node configurations (2×2, 3×3, and 4×4, input-output) and parameters packet loss fraction and average number of hops are adopted for performance metrics. We observe that node failure is only slightly more damaging than the more loaded link failures we have previously considered. |
