Summary: | Accuracy of many existing range free localization algorithms are severely affected by the radio irregularity problem. Those algorithms wrongly assume the transmission range of sensor nodes as perfect spheres. But in practical the transmission range is irregular in shape. Hence the location measurements based on these wrong assumptions lead to inaccuracy. The proposed localization algorithm named as `Sensor Position based on Co-ordinate Signal Strength Database' (SP-CSSD) accurately measures the location of the sensor nodes using the co-ordinate signal strength database in the presence of irregular transmission ranges. This algorithm doesn't consider the shape of the transmission range for its computation. Each sensor node can calculate its location using minimum of two beacon messages received from the GPS enabled anchor nodes. While removing the impact of the radio irregularity, the SP-CSSD algorithm increases the accuracy of location information with minimum computational overhead and minimum power consumption. |
