Description
Summary:We analyze numerically the E-polarized plane wave scattering and absorption characteristics of a stand-alone thin dielectric strip in free space. The main feature demonstrated by these quantities is the presence of intensive Fabry-Perot-like resonances. They are caused by the reflections of the guided mode of associated thin dielectric slab from the endpoints. We also compare several types of the generalized boundary conditions (GBCs) imposed on the strip median line. Our analysis is based on the Nystrom-type discretization of the relevant singular and hyper-singular integral equations (IEs) and the use of special quadrature formulas of interpolation type that guarantee convergence and accuracy of computations.
