Summary: | Interference mitigation using an interference-plus-noise whitening matched filter (WMF) for impulse radio ultrawide bandwidth (IR-UWB) systems in additive white Gaussian noise channels is considered. It is observed that a WMF receiver can improve the error probability performance of IR-UWB systems without adding undue complexity burden to the receiver structure. The signal-to-interference-plus noise ratio (SINR) of the WMF receiver is shown to be superior to that of the conventional matched filter receiver for all the examined values of the signal-to-noise ratio. The SINR gain of the WMF over the CMF is observed to approach 2 dB for large signal-to-noise ratio values. |
