Description
Summary:Numerous building fires occurred in Taiwan over the past thirty years, which caused considerable loss in human life and damage to property. Actual fires provide valuable information for fire protection research. Computer simulations can be used to effectively model the fire and obtain useful and quantitative information to study the crucial fire dynamic characteristics. The FDS (Fire Dynamic Simulator) software was used to develop a computer simulation model to investigate the fire incident that occurred in a townhouse of An-Kon Village, Longtan, Taoyuan, Taiwan. The histories of the various crucial parameters, such as temperature, CO concentration, and smoke layer height during the fire time domain were obtained. Results were consistent with the post accident reports. The information calculated may be useful for future fire safety assessment and fire protection engineering evaluation of similar buildings.
