Summary: | Currently, Korean local governments estimate carbon footprint not based on actual measurement value, but in accordance with local governments' guidelines for greenhouse gas emissions calculation using national statistical data. Carbon footprint of U-City is also calculated both based on local governments' guidelines for greenhouse gas emissions calculation and a calculation model of GHG emission reduction by service model. But due to the up-to-dateness and inconsistent application scope of statistical data, this method is applicable to estimating overall carbon footprint, but not useful in calculating specific carbon footprint in response to the introduction of carbon emission trading system. So it is necessary to calculate carbon emissions by using smart metering-based actual measurement value and compare between the values calculated and the actual emissions measured, increasing the reliability of the model. To prepare for a target scheme and a profit model of carbon credit, it is required to develop a carbon emission inventory and measure values to be used in calculating carbon footprint in real time by inventory. In addition, to respond to carbon emission trading system, it is needed to establish an integrated carbon footprint management system capable of providing a comprehensive management of carbon footprint of U-City through carbon emission monitoring by utilizing real-time energy use and USN, based on a integrated control center of U-City. |
