Summary: | Power failure ride-through capability is an essential feature of adjustable speed drives to avoid production loss due to momentary power failure. Field oriented controlled induction motor drives are one of the ideal choices for implementing the ride-through capability due to their fast torque dynamics. This paper deals with implementation of the power failure ride-through capability in multi-machine single-inverter induction motor drives which are widely used for applications such as electric traction. Effect of choice of control structure on the ride-through performance is studied for field-oriented, two-machine, single-inverter drives for a range of machine ratings. Analysis and simulations are supported by experimental results. |
