Summary: | After the incorporation of several design improvements, the Ellipticus CW Illuminator has been demonstrated in both horizontal and vertical polarizations to produce a continuous, flat spectrum from 100 kHz to 1 GHz. This paper describes the updated CW illuminator system, examines some example field data, and discusses some of the antenna and instrumentation issues encountered above 100MHz that had not been clearly seen before. Methods of measuring and evaluating the system are presented and some methods of troubleshooting and resolving problems are discussed. |
