Description
Summary:In this paper, we extend the application of time-domain physical optics (TDPO) method to investigate electromagnetic (EM) scattering from two dimensional perfectly electrically conducting (PEC) rough surface in time domain. The scheme requires relatively small amounts of computer memory and CPU time, as well as has advantage over the Kirchhoff Approximation (KA) method in obtaining transient response of rough surface. The 2D Gaussian randomly rough surface is generated by Monte Carlo method and divided into small triangle facets though the meshing preprocess. The accuracy of TDPO method is validated by comparing the analytical results with those obtained by the KA method in the backward and specular direction. The transient response and its frequency distribution of radar cross section (RCS) from rough surface are given, respectively. Finally, the simulations of electromagnetic scattering from PEC rough surface are carried out to analyze the variation of RCS with correlation length (l) and root mean square height (σ).
