A novel and low complex detection method for MIMO channels: A new perspective

description In this paper, we have proposed a new and simple method for detection of transmitted symbols in both SISO and MIMO channels. The energy of received signals is the criterion which help us to limit the search space. Perfect knowledge of channel state information (CSI) in the receiver is assumed. So, all possible levels of energy can be determined easily. Since we have assumed the channel to be quasi-static, the computation of energy levels is done only once. Based on the closest energy level and the points which lie in the search space, decision can be made. In other words, we have constrained our search space to a new and smaller space with different levels of energy. Simulation results show approximately the same performance as the maximum-likelihood (ML) detector in high signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs) with a considerable reduction in the computational complexity.
