Summary: | Iron loss models of electrical steel sheets and magnetic cores are of importance in multiple areas of physics and engineering. Next to the development of new materials a good understanding of the physical effects of magnetization and loss contribution is an additional basis for design optimization of electrical machines for example [1, 2]. This paper, however, discusses the application of analytical loss models in the area of transformer diagnostics on a low frequency data basis. As core data and the flux density at the operating point of the transformers are not available, the model proposed is optimized to work with these restrictions. Currently iron losses are divided depending on their origin into hysteresis, classical eddy current and excess losses [4]. Although this loss interpretation is very accurate this model only divides the total losses in static and dynamic loss components. The model is optimized for engineering purposes to be operated with low testing frequencies and low voltages. |
