Summary: | Examines the ability of the multivariable control design procedure to provide an adequate solution to the boiler subsystem, superheater/reheater control problem including sensor noise rejection and disturbance rejection. The system is relatively complicated so it is impossible to specify a classic compensator structure suitable for attaining the performance objectives. Indeed, the performance objectives themselves are conflicting, involving requirements on the time response as well as on robustness. To control this system a combination of a state feedback and a Kalman filter is used. The quadratic regulator is used to stabilize the system automatically; the Kalman filter is used for perturbation rejection. |
