Summary: | This paper deals with fault location on long transmission lines with in-line shunt reactors. It is considered that three-phase voltages and currents from both line ends sampled synchronously or asynchronously are processed. A new algorithm (Algorithm II) is presented. It is formulated for phasors and its distinctive feature relies in no requiring the shunt reactor status and parameters. This algorithm has been tested and compared with the algorithm already known from a literature (Algorithm I) for which the reactor parameters are to be known. The evaluation has been carried out using signals taken from ATP-EMTP versatile simulations of faults on the test transmission line. The sample results of the evaluation are presented and discussed. |
