Description
Summary:An intelligent agent architecture is described, which can detect and diagnose exceptional events in the environment and which can automatically and intelligently respond to each situation. In particular, the design of a fire monitoring and fire management agent is presented, which can be utilised in large compartmented enclosures such as multi-storied buildings. The development and spread of the fire, including the condition of fire safety equipment and the stage of evacuation reached, are continually monitored by the agent. From the environmental information, the agent devises an appropriate plan of action, which is continually updated, and implements it through the activation of appropriate components. The implementation of a prototype of the intelligent agent using the IBM Agent Building Environment Developer's Toolkit is described.
