Description
Summary:In the compressed medical video stream, different kinds of bits have different influences on the quality of the reconstructed video. Traditional unequal error protection algorithms for the transmission of compressed video have the shortcoming that they treat each video sequence and each macro-block similarly and do not consider their differences. Moreover, they general classify the compressed video into the classes of the header information and the motion vector information, the DC information, and the AC information, and provide different error protection for these classes and use the same code for the same class. However, the bits inside the same class have different importance and the bits of the same class for different video sequence will have much different importance. Thus, in this paper, a new algorithm is proposed which treat each bit differently and use different unequal error protection for each bit. Thus, it can offer better protection for the compressed video and use the transmission power wisely. Under the same distortion requirement, the proposed algorithm can offer a significant power savings.
