Summary: | Advanced residual prediction (ARP) is an efficient tool for 3D video coding by exploiting the residual correlation between views. In ARP, the residual predictor could be efficiently produced by aligning the motion information at the current view for motion compensation in the reference view. On the other hand, such on-the-fly residual predictor derivation process increases the complexity significantly due to the increased motion compensation steps. In this paper, a low-complexity ARP scheme is proposed. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed scheme significantly reduces the decoding complexity of the original design in terms of both memory access and computational complexity while keeping comparable coding performance. |
