Summary: | This paper analyses the potential of polarimetric filtering to mitigate interference in a 60 GHz WPAN. A 3D ray tracing model is developed to simulate realistic propagation scenarios in a dense indoor environment and a Received Bit Mutual Information Rate (RBIR) abstraction technique is used to evaluate link level performance. Subsequently, the spatial reuse gain and the fairness between users at system level are evaluated and are shown to be considerably enhanced by the use of polarimetric filtering. In particular, the paper demonstrates the benefits of nulling the interference, maximising the signal power and optimising the SINR. An improvement of more than 80% in network throughput and 20% in fairness is observed among the users when optimal filtering is applied. |
