Summary: | This paper presents a novel 90 GHz band RF transceiver using polarization-division duplex (PDD) technology. A PDD architecture is used for full-duplex communication in the single band. The RF transceiver can deliver 6 Gbps through six channels with a bandwidth of 3 GHz. The channel bandwidth is 500 MHz. A IF combining structure is used for multi-channel. To implement the system, a fourth-harmonically pumped mixer for RF up/down-conversion and a low-noise amplifier monolithic microwave integrated circuits (MMIC) are implemented using a 0.1 μm gallium arsenide pseudomorphic high-electron-mobility transistor (GaAs pHEMT) process. RF transceiver has an output P1dB of 15dBm and a noise figure of below 8dB. Experimental results of RF test-bed show that the system can achieve a good performance at the 16 quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) transmission of both Single Carrier and orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) method. |
