Excitation of higher-order modes of an optical nanofiber by laser-cooled 87Rb atoms
We demonstrate excitation of higher order modes in an optical nanofiber by resonantly-excited 87 Rb atoms. Absorption by laser-cooled atoms is enhanced when probe light propagates in higher order modes compared to the fundamental mode.
