Summary: | A novel and compact multi mode resonator (MMR) based ultra-wideband (UWB) (3.1 GHz-10.6 GHz) filter is proposed. Modified split ring resonator (MSRR) is used as multi-mode resonator (MMR) to achieve desired UWB pass band response by feeding thorough inter-digital coupled lines. Couple of shorted stubs is incorporated in order to improve sharp roll off at the pass band edges of the UWB pass band. Strongly coupled inter-digital coupled lines ensure low insertion loss in the pass band. Filter is fabricated on RT/Duroid 5880 substrate (ε r =2.2 and h=0.785) with effective geometrical area 26 × 9 sq. mm. Excellent correlation between measured and simulated results ensures legitimacy of the device for UWB communications. |
