Broadband low noise EDFA with flat gain response in a hermetically sealed package

Two-stage double-pass EDFA with a broadband flat gain is constructed in a hermetically sealed package. The EDFA has a low noise-figure of 4 dB, a high output power exceeding 15 dBm and a /spl plusmn/0.2 dB gain flatness over a 30 nm bandwidth.
