Summary:Diamond is useful as a field emitter tip because of its negative electron affinity. There have been a lot of reports concerning filed emission from chemical vapor deposited (CVD) diamond and field emitter array using CVD diamond. However, as far as the authors know, field emission from bulk diamond has not been studied yet. In this work, we fabricate a bulk diamond field emitter tip using focused ion beam assisted etching and investigate characteristics of electron emission from bulk diamond.
