Summary: | The last years in Europe, the growing penetration of Distributed Generation (DG), (mainly q combination of heat and power (CHP) and renewable), has demonstrated the necessity of facing the impacts and opportunities of new distributed energy resources connected to medium and low voltage grids by means of research projects. The need of demPRICE-GDIonstration projects on voltage control with DG to increase the hosting capacity has been identified and a noteworthy number of initiatives have been carried out in the European Union. This paper presents the experience of Unión Fenosa Distribución in PRICE-GDI, a pilot project which aims for the integration of DG in active distribution systems. Besides the adopted solution for the monitoring and control of the generation, this paper explains the main results regarding the voltage control in low and medium voltage grids with distributed energy resources (DER; understood as DG, Demand Response and Storage). |
