Summary: | A simplified version of the interconnect structure of a hand-held instrument, consisting of a vertical connection from a circuit board to a display is investigated for its EMI characteristics. The structure is both modeled in a method of moments (MoM) program and built and measured in the laboratory. Excellent agreement is obtained. Additional features of the model included in measurement and simulation are as follows: a coaxial cable feeding a signal to the vertical wire, and additional wire adjacent to the vertical wire to act as a return mechanism, and a three foot long horizontal wire attached to the edge of the ground plane to model a RS232 cable which might be attached. |
