Summary:The present work deals with the design and development of an optimal closed-loop three level DC-to-DC buck converter. The effect of phase shift on efficiency and voltage across the energy transfer capacitor of the power circuit has been investigated. A charge-pump controller has been added to a closed-loop system and the performance has been experimentally studied. Since all studies indicate an optimal phase shift of 180 degrees, a simple closed-loop system with a fixed phase of 180 degrees has been designed, fabricated and tested.
