Summary: | Vehicles these days have roughly one hundred Electronic Control Units (ECUs). Therefore, it is difficult to fix bugs that are caused by timing. The near future may hold autonomous vehicles, which will be controlled by extensive software. Therefore, software updating will be necessary. Many vehicles are connected to a network, thus, updating should take as little time as possible. In this paper, we show how to reduce the data size for software updating. Our method is based on bsdiff, which is a well-known code-difference technique. We propose an improved bsdiff method and evaluate it by simulation. We found that it slightly reduced some of the data sizes. |
