Description
Summary:Method of calculation of the vertical w(x,y,z) components of marine (ocean) current speed is considered. The diffusive equation and first approach of the common decision of the synoptic equations lays the basis of this method. Optimum statistical estimation of the horizontal pressure and density gradients by a method of the maximal verisimilitude, which is widely used in various sections of applied statistics, is the new element. Accuracy of the received estimations is defined by two major factors: errors of measurement of the density, depth and distance between hydrologic stations and also statistics of the selective variability. Accounts of the w-current component are executed for several complex surveys of the Black Sea. Calculations have shown good conformity of the received w-values to the independent scale estimations, and also rather complex structure of the vertical current speed components-presence in some cases of several cells of the vertical circulation and layers with zero vertical current speed.
