Limitations in Number of WDM Channels When Using Dispersion Management and Mid-Span Phase Conjugation

Chromatic dispersion is one of the limiting factors in high-bit-rate, long-distance optical communication systems. For single-channel transmission, this effect can be made negligible by placing the signal very close to the zero-dispersion point.
