One-pixel width image skeleton generation using mathematical morphology

Description
Summary:In this paper, we shall elucidate and illustrate a thinning algorithm to extract a skeleton from binary images which are thresholded from noisy gray images. Theories of mathematical morphology are described which will provide the one-pixel width skeleton. Moreover, a definition of the skeleton is given which is used as a convergence test for this thinning process. Experimental results to demonstrate the success of this process are also included.
