Summary: | The use of the method of moments with wavelet bases is investigated for the problem of electromagnetic scattering from computer-simulated random dielectric surfaces. The method of moments (MoM) has already been used for testing the validity of several models of surface scattering by expanding the electromagnetic currents in pulse functions followed by point matching. This procedure has the problem that very large matrices are required to represent the integral operator. Due to their vanishing moment properties and the capability of wavelets to adjust themselves to a multi-scale scatterer, a MoM using wavelet expansions has been studied here for backscattering from dielectric rough surfaces. The application of a wavelet MoM with a threshold procedure is tested against the conventional MoM using pulse functions and point matching. |
