Summary: | Brakes are devices most used in industry and transport to control speed. Devices using the electromagnetic field generated by a source to exert torque, reducing speed on mobile devices are called electromagnetic brakes. This paper presents the design stages, development and testing of an electromagnetic brake by the action of currents induced aiming mainly to use as a variable load in three phase induction motors tests. Characteristics such as low noise emission, reduced wear by friction, ease of control and low field current presented advantageous compared to other methods used for this application. |
