Summary: | The next generation of mobile communication devices will support a wide range of services as well as support an integrated mix of traffic (i.e., voice, data and video) over TCP/IP networks. These service requirements can only be met if the mobile communication devices provide quality-of-service (QoS) guarantees. In a wireless network the QoS support is largely dependent on the medium access control (MAC) protocol. In this paper a MAC protocol for the air interface between mobile devices and TCP/IP networks that provides QoS guarantees is presented and evaluated via simulation. |
