Description
Summary:Hybrid Photovoltaic thermal (PVT) collector convert solar energy into electrical and thermal energy simultaneously. The energy output of this collector is low due to their low power conversion efficiencies. Planer reflectors are used to improve the power output of PVT collector, by increasing the effective capture area. The performance of the solar collector with reflector depends length of reflector, tilt angle and reflectivity. Hence, it is necessary to choose the optimum values of these parameters to attain a maximum of power of collector. In this study, an optimization of the angle of inclination of two reflectors during the year was done. These rectangular reflectors in mirror placed on the lateral sides of a hybrid PVT water collector. A particle swarm optimization (PSO) method is used in this study. An increase of 23% for solar radiation incident on the collector surface with the addition of the planers reflectors, this increase causes an improvement of the performance of the collector.
