Summary:We conducted the first ever investigation on the impact of inter-wavelength selective switch (WSS) crosstalk in multiple-arrayed WSSs and confirmed that it is a critical issue for an optical signal transmission. To address this issue, we propose a method to reduce inter-WSS crosstalk, taking optical node application into consideration. We demonstrate that the proposed method enables 11-dB crosstalk reduction and 256-Gb/s PDM-16QAM signal transmission without a OSNR penalty.
