Description
Summary:The recent research study shows that an induction motor drive is a suitable candidate for an electric vehicle application. The direct torque control of induction machine is preferred due to its simplicity and fast torque response. However, the direct torque control strategy suffers from large torque ripple. Hysteresis band width and reference flux linkage value are the factors that affects the torque ripple. In this paper, the drive performance is analyzed with/without adaptive hysteresis band and with constant/variable reference flux linkage value. The drive performance indices are the torque ripple, total harmonic distortion (THD) and switching frequency are experimentally investigated. The experimental analysis shows that the drive performance is improved with adaptive hysteresis band and variable reference flux linkage.
