Summary: | Variation is inevitable in any phenomenon. It is a crucial requirement to make a continuous effort to improve the performance and quality of products or processes to clutch the competitive advantage of the industry. Hence, the concept of 'robustness' was developed as a major characteristic of design engineering and product development in modern manufacturing to make the process and/or the product insensitive to variations transmitted from noise factors. Thus, the intent of this paper is to provide an application of fractional factorial design techniques to improve the level of abrasion resistance of industrial gloves by making a robust process in a Sri Lankan manufacturing context. The results show that one main factors (vulcanizing agent), and 04 two way interactions-32 experimental runs were conducted by manipulating 11 factors-have a significant impact (p |
