Description
Summary:In recent years, there has been a substantial increase in interest in multilevel power conversion. This has led to the recent research of new converter topologies and modulation strategies. This article describes the operating principle of a novel 8-level inverter topology based on flying capacitors. It has 12 MOSFETs switching devices are arranged such that 6 are complementary and CD sources are used to generate the different voltage levels of the output waveform. The control technique used is the sinusoidal pulse-width modulation (SPWM).
