Summary: | Electric vehicles have pro-environmental advantages compared to traditional automobiles, or even hybrids: they can help reducing pollution and noise levels locally, and greenhouse gas emissions globally. However, there are still many challenges that the electric vehicles must overcome before reaching level of diffusion that can have significant impact on sustainability. This paper evaluates combined sustainability of electric vehicle and small-scale energy production. We propose a framework for sustainable electric vehicle - energy prosumer integration and outline a policy mix that is needed to support adoption of both renewable energy technologies and electric vehicles. |
