Design of a low-cost and high-performance digital PWM controller for DC-DC converters
This paper presents a design methodology for a digital pulse width (PWM) controller that targets the digital control of high-frequency switched-mode DC-DC power supplies (SMPS). Summary: | This paper presents a design methodology for a digital pulse width (PWM) controller that targets the digital control of high-frequency switched-mode DC-DC power supplies (SMPS). Steady state (DC) and transient (AC) specifications are considered for a synchronous buck converter, but all considerations made in this paper can be extended to other DC-DC converters, such as boost and buck-boost. Additionally, a new feedforward strategy is presented, more robust than presented by previous literature, using a VCO as an element of this control. |
