Summary: | Pseduospark switch (PSS) and magnetic switch (MS) are both widely used in repetitive pulsed power technology, with the merits of high operation frequency and long lifetime. Nevertheless, PSS suffers from the great anode erosion, commutation loss and unstable work condition while MS is limited by serious increase in volume and mass of the core when used in high voltage applications. When connecting them in series, forming the magnetically delayed pseudospark switch (MDPSS), the disadvantages could be prevented and new phenomena appear. In this paper, the matching principle of MDPSS is discussed carefully. |
