Modeling and Validation of the Basic EMC Filter at Different Simulation Levels

Summary: | In this paper several methodologies for the modelling of EMC filter are presented. Modeling of the filter can be done at the circuit level or at 3D field level with full-wave Method of Moments (MoM). On first step RF components of filter are modeled based on calculated or measured s-parameters. Circuit level model can be enhanced by including stray RLC parameters of the PCB traces calculated with 3D quasi-static/quasi-magnetic approach. Filter attenuation is calculated for common and differential modes using different methods in the frequency range from 10 kHz up to 50 MHz and are compared with measurements. |
