Description
Summary:Shipboard power systems are adopting new types of emerging pulsed loads. Due to the different advantages proposed by MVDC onboard power system, MVDC system will be the dominant system in future maritime. However, there is a need to provide proper control to manage the energy flow and ensure quick response under different loading conditions, taking into consideration the presence of the pulsed loads. This paper proposes a decentralized energy management for the onboard hybrid energy storage devices. The objective of the algorithm is to maintain the voltage of the MVDC bus, ensure proper power sharing while taking the nature of the storage devices into consideration. The actions taken by the controller are decided based on local inputs only. The controller is validated on MVDC ship power system through MATLAB/SIMULIK.
