Temperature Effect on Detectors Performance of the SVOM ECLAIRs X/Gamma Camera

Description
Summary:ECLAIRs, a 2-D coded-mask imaging camera on-board the Sino-French SVOM space mission, will detect and locate Gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) in near real time in the 4×150 keV energy band. The design of ECLAIRs is driven by the objective of a 4 keV low-energy threshold. The detection plane is an assembly of 6400 Schottky CdTe detectors organized on elementary modules of 4×8 pixels, biased up to -450V and nominally operated at -20°C. In this paper, we describe these modules and the test benches used for their study. We show spectral measurements made at temperatures from -12°C to -36°C in a vacuum chamber thanks to a radioactive source ( 241 Am). Because of temperature fluctuations on the detection plane, we analyze and conclude on temperature effects on performance criteria such as the gain, the low energy threshold, the line FWHM.
