Description
Summary:Pantograph strip plays an important role in energy acquirement system of railway transportation. Lowering pantograph arc would severely ablate the pantograph strip, even leads to the pantograph strip out of work. The objective of this paper is to theoretically investigate the mechanism of pantograph strip surface erosion caused by a combined effect of lowering pantograph arc heating and the blow effect of arc pressure. Study results show that lowering pantograph process has a significant influence on heat flux density and arc pressure injected in pantograph strip. The maximum temperature is not located at the center of pantograph strip, while locates at the surface ejection. The ejection might form droplet which the droplet would take away a lot of heat from pantograph strip. The formed droplet might be the origin of abrasive wear. High flow velocity regions are between pantograph strip center and ejection. This molten pool flow velocity distribution led to the molten pool wider.
