Description
Summary:Summary form only given. Recently, the vibrational states of quantum dots have been intensively studied as well as the optical properties due to carrier confinement. In this report, a modified expression is proposed, which can explain the observed size- and glass-dependent phonon energies of CdSe quantum dots in B/sub 2/O/sub 3/-SiO/sub 2/ and SiO/sub 2/ glasses and the previously reported ones in a GeO/sub 2/ glass. We obtain the phonon frequency w(R) of microcrystal with radius to R considering phonon-frequency shifts due to phonon dispersion and lattice contraction.
