Summary: | A frequency-reconfigurable coplanar-waveguide (CPW) fed monopole antenna using switchable capacitively loaded loops (CLLs) is reported. Two open circuits used as switches are employed in the CLLs elements to make the antenna frequency-reconfigurable in four operating modes: a single-band mode (2.2-2.7GHz), two dual-band mode : (0.8 to 1.1GHz/2.2-3GHz), then (1.5-2.2GHz/ 2.8-3.2GHz) and a triple-band mode (0.8-1GHz/ 1.6 to 2.2 GHz /2.6-3.1GHz). The monopole antenna is resonating at 2.45 GHz, while the CLL elements produce other operating frequency bands covering a number of wireless communication systems, including GSM, DCS, UMTS, WLAN, WiMAX and S-band. The simulated results of return loss, surface currents distribution and radiation patterns are presented and discussed. |
