Description
Summary:A novel tuning method for proportion-integral-derivative (PID) controller based on improved particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm for unstable plants with time delay is proposed in this paper. The improved PSO algorithm can find the optimal solution from a start point given by Ziegler-Nichols (Z-N) method and adjust the search range adaptively. The co-operation of PSO and Z-N can reduce the iteration times and meet the multi-objective optimization as well as give an optimal solution with better performance. Moreover, a set point weighted parameter is added to reduce the overshoot of the closed loop system. In the simulation work, an unstable plant with a positive pole, an unstable plant with two positive poles and a high order unstable plant are given to verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.
