Description
Summary:Recently, as various activities such as entertainments, business, shopping and conventions have been performed increasingly indoors, the proportion of indoor-space living has gradually increased. Outdoor space offers a lot of data (e.g., map data) for confirmation and utilization of locations (such as with GPS); however, there is not much data on indoor space. As people come to live in indoor spaces more and more, interest in and the importance of indoor spatial data increases. This paper proposes the design and implementation of a mobile indoor scanning system as an application of smart city. The system is composed of a mobile robot (to overcome the distance limit of a sensor in collecting indoor spatial information and to perform autonomous scanning) and a smartphone (as a user terminal for control of the mobile robot and for immediate checking of scanned information).
