Summary: | Non-intrusive load monitoring (NILM) refers to a method of detecting the current energy consumptions of a house or a building using a single set of measurements at the electrical service entry (ESE). An education platform, designed for helping junior graduate students understanding NILM is developed in this paper. To enhance students' understanding, learn-by-example and learn-by-experience teaching strategy is utilized. A competition game is designed for students working in a group to gain experience in designing NILM algorithms in the proposed education platform. Based on the feedback evaluation, most of the students become competent in designing NILM systems and show great interests in smart-grid and power system related subjects. |
